The Big Boat is Here!

Congratulations are in order all round as we took delivery of the new hull.

At 7am on the 4th of March, William from Hewden's arrived with a crane to lift the boat off the back of a low loader. The boat had been built by Colecraft in Long Itchington and had been driven through the night to reach us.

Setting up the crane was a tricky manoeuvre and it took longer that originally planned. Fortunately, Stoats Porridge Bars were on hand to keep everyone warm with lots of coffee and tasty porridge.

The boat finally hit the water at about 9.45am in front of a crowd of well-wishers which included Tim Ford, Ron Rusack and Sam Baumber, the original Re-Union investors, Peter Whitelaw, our neighbour at Fountain Court, Jean Cuthbert from the Volunteer Centre, Councillor McKay the Canal Champion and many more friends and volunteers of Re-Union.

We set up the sponsor a slab salon in Unit 7 at Edinburgh Quay, with Tim and Abby painting the beautiful sentiments on the slabs. It's not to late to sponsor a slab and support Re-Union by buying ballast. Ballast is what makes the boat stable – and by buying a slab you'll be financially supporting the stability of Re-Union.

For a £5, £50 or £500 donation you can get your name signed on a stone slab and placed in the bottom of the boat. Why not dedicate a slab to a friend or relative!

You can buy a slab for Re-Union at www.justgiving.com/re-union or you can send a cheque to the Re-Union office at 30 Westburn Grove, Edinburgh EH14 2SA

Once the boat is built it will be available to hire for staff away days, training and community activities. We offer community groups a 50% discount.

The boat is located at Edinburgh Quay off Fountainbridge in the heart of Edinburgh. Click the link for a map.
